Here we are again .... After a little thought to the refuge Muzzerone down the valley.
Portovenere is a beautiful sea village which owes its name (Portus Veneris) in the presence of a temple dedicated to the goddess of beauty.
known worldwide for its charm, calm and not least for the church of San Pietro (no. .. not the one who is in Rome ... this is another). Here it is, the picture is very dark ... but I have nothing else for now.
If you go to Portovenere I suggest you arrive early you only as a parking lot:-D because the best time, in my opinion, is the late afternoon, before the sun drops. Stand near the sea and enjoy the sunset and then infiltrate the alleys, and enjoy the sea air and the shops still open. And if you're in the area in summer, try to go around August 17, during which takes place every year, the feast of Our Lady Bianca, the patron saint of Porto Venere. During this evening you can see thousands of torches lit up the whole promontory. It 'a beautiful sight and very romantic. If you want to impress your girlfriend I advise you to book a nice dinner at the Locanda Lorena, which is located on the Island Palmaria (also from sleep) the night of the White Lady. http://www.locandalorena.com/ The price of the evening at the restaurant includes a boat-taxi service (typical Venetian) that there is a pier to take you back to port and Venus (In fact, the "sailor" welcomes you do the free offers ...:-D). In the evening, after dinner, if you have not want to the room of the inn Lorraine, you can have a stroll through the narrow streets of Porto Venere and head to the terrace of St. Peter, where you can enjoy a fabulous view.
On a beautiful summer evening .. maybe the night of San Lorenzo, you can see thousands of stars. You take the court.
ISLANDS
Right in front of Portovenere, arranged from north to south, lie the islands of Palmaria (separated from the mainland only by a narrow stretch of sea), and Tino Tinetto. Palmaria comes from the gray stone (the "marble portoro") with which they were built churches, homes and fortifications in the landscape are visible signs of the massive removal of material from quarries. In this island there are two caves at sea level, the Blue Grotto and higher, the Cave of the Doves, where they found traces of the Mesolithic. In the island of Tino remain the ruins of the ancient abbey of San Venerio, built in the eleventh century on the former chapel of the seventh century, built on the site where the hermit saint, patron of La Spezia, lived and died. At Tinetto, the smallest of the three islands and also the most distant, there is evidence of ancient religious settlements, including fragments of the sixth century oratory and the remains of the church with two aisles. Nearby on a rock, it is an old military building that tower Scola. The three islands are a major tourist attraction. Palmaria is the most popular, mainly from La Spezia, who come for its clear waters, and its eastern slopes gradually down to the sea covered by Mediterranean vegetation, the West has steep cliffs that reach 188 meters above sea level.
